hey guys, even though I’m not a club member, I've gone in a few runs and got to meet some of you guys over the years.
i drive a 91 hdj81 and just went thru a road block a few days back and the cop almost gave me an inspection due to no DOT approved lights, luckily i knew his partner in crime and got off easy.
so to the point, i tried looking for the inspection report from when i got the truck from a certain importer in the mainland but no luck. i found an icbc bulletin online saying that after feb 2006 the head lights had to be changed to DOT approved ones or S.......i got the truck 8 months after that so i called the shop to ask him why they were changed and he said that the vehicle passed inspection and that some shops weren’t aware of the bulletin till months later, that i can blame him and hell blame the shop leading us nowhere. instead he wanted to be fair with me so he said he’d split the head lights with me 50/50. what would you do in my case?. i think its fair but at the same time that should’ve been done before i bought the vehicle. :bang:

Hey Hector just look for some fj80 head light in the junkers or on line they are not to much

Search for DEPO lights in the 80 section. They apparently are better than OEM, and cheaper too, compared to new ones that is.

I have them. Glass lenses. Got them from craigslist on the lower mainland. Light is definitely better, especially the brights. The low beams are H4's and the high beams are H1's. The high beams are where the jdm "fog" lights used to be. You then get a free'd up OEM fog light switch, relay and wiring for your own fogs or driving light usage.

When the brights are on, you get dual-filament lit H4's AND H1's lit. You do need to hack into the wiring to convert it over though, that's the only downside. Wasn't a big deal for me.
