I am wanting to install a Cummins 4bt in my 1975 FJ55 but am hesitant because I do not want to lift my vehicle more than 4" (I would prefer a 2 1/2" lift). I have read 4" possibly works with the engine swap but wanted to confirm it prior to making any purchases. Also I wanted to see if anyone has any input as to ride quality of a 4" lift kit on an FJ55. So far I am leaning towards purchasing an Alcan lift kit. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I am running a 3 ½” lift with my 4Bt and yes it works fine but no I wouldn’t recommend it, I spent a lot of unnecessary money to keep a sprung under pig with a 4Bt when a spring over would have worked just as well and saved a bunch of headache.

Good luck and post lots of pictures, we love pictures here in the sty….

Yes please, post a ton of pictures. I have a '75 and am interested in the 4bt as well. I have no experience whatsoever and will need all the help I can get. If I get after it before you I will tons of pics too.

I am curious why you are not going with a 6bt? It seems as though they are cheaper, and obviously stronger, and I think that I have seen a 55 in the past with one inside it. Please forgive my continued ingorance.
