Its the so-called aircon amplifier.
If the freon pressure switch has zero ohms and the evaporator temp sensor says its warm enough and if the ac switch is On then the relay in that box engages and the ac compressor comes on.

Awesome thanks. Wonder why that is part number doesn’t show up anywhere?
My search says its a glow controller. There is a few on ebay for sale. I know the 2 items inhabit a similar space. Maybe the seller has confused it with an aircon amplifier.

I have my 24V model out of the vehicle: I am pretty sure it is faulty.
I did a search for the Denso numbers and the other Denso numbers printed on the board itself inside the box: no hits.
I found a guy in Richmond Virginia who thinks he can fix mine.
If you need a new 12V box I have one. I bought it not knowing it was 12V.

my glow plug timer has this Toy part number written on it:
28521-68040
This has different connectors than yours, so I don't think it's the timer.

Was just trying to figure out what this is exactly for. I am straight Wilson switching so I am removing as much of the original stuff from the glow plugs as i have the dash apart trying to access the heater core. If it is for part of the AC system then I will put mine back in as I assume it is still good. I guess I could open it up and make sure there aren't any obvious burnt marks or other noticeable problems, and see if there are any testing procedures listed in the manual.

Yeah, I know the timer box and if I tested it correctly it has a fault so I am just going to remove it. The box in question lives next to the timer under the dash above the glove box.

That looks like the same part but I really doubt it is the timer since the timer has a different part number and it says timer on it.
There are tests outlined in the manual for the gizmos that connect to the black box: freon pressure switch, thermistor, etc.
