crawling under my 70 piggie and the speedo cable goes into an adapter type thing with wires coming out and the speedo cable then goes up to the odometer.
just wondering what the wires are for?? or do??

I think it's some kind of a servicing reminder thingy but I didn't think they had those on the '70 models already.

"speed marker" it inputs speed to the emission computer to control some functions even on the early cruisers...

Yep, Speed Marker, have them on my 70' 40 and 55.
