What do you think of this troopy?

Thanks for the link, Georg!

That's one of my favorite colors (the other one is mustard yellow) on the troopy.

The doors look like they were replaced or repainted at a different time than the rest of the body (maybe it's just the lighting). And the bottom of the rear. barn doors looks like it has some rust holes (not horrible, I guess).

The tires are new (and BIG!) and I imagine the dash is in better shape. Can't tell on the a/c and/or heater, as well as the tachometer.

Is the "DIESEL" emblem on the grille red or is it playing tricks with my eyes?

I guess I can always ask the seller these questions...

I'll have to see how this one goes and base my decision on what to do/how to go about the other one.

Thanks again!

That one that just hit ebay does look pretty nice, but who knows what the reserve is. I'm sure you can get this one for less. I'm not 100% sure on the '82, but at least by '83 the odometer showed 6 digits so it would actually show 400,000 kms.

I recognize that one now. I thought about looking into it, as well, but was turned off by the mileage for the price. It has been for sale for at least several weeks, IIRC. He's asking a lot in Aussie terms, so it's not going to sell very quickly unless another Yank grabs it. I'd offer him $5k AU and go from there. 400k kms is quite a few miles if it's never been rebuilt, so I'd factor that into it's worth. Is it disk or drums in front?

It's been a long process so far since I made the initial contact (with a help of a Mudder) over two months ago.

There was a period (or two) of about one month (each) without hearing from them, which made me think that it was sold and/or no longer available for sale. But here I am, still holding on to the thought of acquiring it.

I'll add the brake question to the list of things to ask for.

Yeah, I thought the asking price was probably a bit high for it, hence it hasn't sold yet, at least for OZ. There's a newer troopy that I've seen now for sale for $1k (OZ) less (70 series). I have thought about getting something like that and park it at my sister's place in Canada for two years until it's sufficiently old.

ANYWAY, thanks for the advice, David!

Oh, John (jsaltlick), thanks for your input as well! It's always very much appreciated!

I'll post when/if I hear back from the seller!

Mot ;)

This is the reply I got from the e-bay seller from the link that was posted by Georg:

I repainted it after the body work , doors are original, they have not been painted, there is some surface rust on the frame I'll try to take pictures. this is not a restored vehicle. has the factory heater, and clock,no ac,no power steering, the diesel emblem is red don't know why always has been.

I guess I should have asked if he was willing to let me kwow what the reserve was.

it's not too bad for the $$$, as others have mentioned.

IMHO i'd hold out for one with less milage, they are around.

if it ticks all of your boxes, why not pull the trigger? then you can spend time building not looking for your dream troopy?

happy hunting;)
