What are your thoughts on the Crown Focus Apple CarPlay?

I have not really had any issues with the Crown Focus unit. It has rebooted a 4-5 times when driving along, but comes right back nice and quickly, don't know whether that's the unit or CarPlay really. I switch between it and the factory side for FM radio frequently and it switches well, I think that's unrelated to the reboots. I do need to pull it open again because I have a slight wire/ rattle vibration at 40-50 mph somewhere in there and I'm OCD about that.
When you mention 're-booting', does it lose power? Maybe the wire/rattle is disconnecting/reconnecting to power? Just thinking out loud.

Possible that’s it- it does seem like a power loss, but t immediately comes back.

The connectors seemed pretty tight. Doubtful they are reconnecting if they disconnect I’d think. I think the rattle is just a wire.

I note there is a code showing in my scanner that says the factory screen is disconnected. But I figured that was just because the CF unit was in the middle there.

The unit I ordered was delivered, and I had it installed last Thursday. After working/watching the process. I should have attempted the project myself. It was pretty straightforward and would have been a lot cheaper. I live in the SW, given the dry conditions here I was concerned about the brittle plastic. But everything worked out well.

The unit itself for the limited time I have had to use it, works well. There are a few short comings I can easily work around. For instance - the turn-by-turn voice directions only work in AUX mode (expected), but only when nothing else is running. When I have the XM radio app running, no voice directions will come through. I'm an Android guy, using Android Auto not Apple Car Play. Maybe it's a setting I'm missing, still experimenting. Also, I was really looking forward to see if GAIA maps works. It does, however, the original screen size and resolution will keep me using my tablet.

I love my Crown Focus Apple Carplay, it has been working great. The Linux based operating system has been super stable. This system is much cheaper than the other options and works great. The install was easy, taking the dash apart to simple. I wish I install this system long ago. I highly recommend this upgrade.

Do you have the install instructions? I asked them if I could see them and they said they’d only share if I bought. I don’t want to buy until I know I can do it myself.
