Where do you guys go for gas, wire, etc.? I just picked up a decent deal on a 220V MIG to replace my little 110V flux core. So I'll need to get a gas bottle, etc.

I've had good luck with Big-R on 24 a couple miles past Woodman--they do a tank exchange and have had all the wire I've needed

Never would have thought of them. Do they sell tanks also?

I have been using Airgas near I-25 and colorado ave, but that was mostly because I didn't know of anything else. I am going to check out Colorado welding supply to see how their prices compete. :)

I've used Airgas in UT and that store set me up with an account and gave me discounts even though I was not affiliated with a company. He said they do it to make their billing easier. I need gas soon so I'll be checking Airgas that Luke mentioned for tank exchange and see if I can get an account there.

I got my 80 CF bottle from ebay (shipping included)(new 10 year certificate) and got it filled with C25 at Colorado Welding Supply for about $45 (I get to keep my new bottle), comes out cheaper than leasing a bottle after some time of not using the welder. 80CF will last a long time also. I get my wire from Harbor Freight a big wheel will take care of you for a while. Just my 2 cents.:grinpimp:

I stopped by US Welding Supply on Valley on the way home tonight. They want $176 for a 10 year rental on an 80CF and give you a $10/fill discount wrt an owned tank. I can get one from ebay for about $160 to $170, so that sounds like a no-brainer. I'll check out Big-R this weekend as well. Not to far from me.

I have the "short" welding bottle, not sure what pound, I bought it from Redball back in Louisana. When I moved to the springs I thought I was going to have a hard time getting it filled, as I have no paperwork on it. Airgas changed it out no questions and it is only like $38? the small bottle lasts me FOREVER and I use my welder a lot. I can go through about a roll and a half of wire before I need gas. I think most people have thier sheilding flow way too high, I can barely hear mine hissing the flow meter is usually at 15 or 20 and I don't have any problems until I use the fan in my garage.

My Hobart 175 is my second favorite tool, close runner up to the Stihl chiansaw. :D

I'm getting a Hobart 187, but it will have a long climb to pass the Unisaw as my favorite tool!

I go to Colorado Welding Supply.

Colorado Welding Supply

They are 4x4 guys but I think they have heeps.

Yep, Eric Younger is the owner, has a Very Sick BTF buggy he just built, Jeep guy, but Very nice guy, and member of the Rock Hoppers..

We wheeled together in Moab a few years ago!

Eric,

Add a Hobart Airforce 400 to the Hobart 187 and you will forget all about the Unisaw. My Unisaw is now a work bench.

Why "Add" when you can borrow....:grinpimp:

Yea well, by the time this welder is set up my tool & toy budget will be blown for awhile.

I'm running a Snap-on MM140 110 volt unit and I love it. When I first set it up I went to Colorado Welding Supply and they hooked me up so I've been going there ever since. I have noticed that Eric gives me a discount now that I've spent alot of money with him:clap:. Whoever you decide to go with, stick with them and if they are any kind of nice you'll start getting "frequent welder" discounts.

Just swapped out my 125 O2 bottle for $15 and got an 80 75/25 Argon swapped for $38. I had an odd ball size tank (50) for shielding gas that they do not stock. He upgraded the size to an 80 since they were out of 60's for no cost. I just paid for the gas in the 80. Seems like they really take care of folks over there. Airgas on Chestnut, near 8th Street.
