I'm trying to fix some messed up wiring for my radio that the PO did. They cut the connector off. The weird thing is, I can only get the deck to work if I combine the Blue/Yellow wire with the Grey wire, together with the decks Yellow and Red wires.

Also, deck wiring aside... if I connect the Grey wire with the Blue/Yellow wire, then my buzzer starts working, and my interior dome light goes on! Were these combined in the original OEM radio connector?

I was under the impression that:

Blue/Yellow was battery/constant 12V+
Grey was accessory/switched 12V+

Connecting Blue/Yellow to the Decks Yellow wire and, separately connecting the Grey wire to the Decks Red wire, doesn't work.

This is a 92 reg cab pickup, with no rear speakers. I believe it just had a factory radio.

Any ideas?

I got fed up trying to wire into what the PO/idiot did to mine so I ran all new wiring, which sucked, made the whole thing less of a headache when my other radio dumped on me.

Sorry, cant help much

Thanks, that's the document I'm following, as well as the 93 fsm. But, it looks like I've got to fix my no voltage problem on the 12V battery wire before I can get things to work properly. I'm not quite sure how to approach that though.

On my truck, the radio only worked when the lights were on when I first got it.

The horn and hazards fuse was pulled, when I put a new fuse in the horn started going off on its own. I have not pulled the steering wheel to see what the problem is yet, but I have seen this before and have a idea of what I need to replace.

Anyways, the fuse for the horn and hazards, is also what sends 12v+ constant power to the radio as well. So without this fuse in place, no radio power. I ran my own power wire to get around this until I get around to fixing my horn.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I remember using my horn recently :) I've checked all the fuses that they were good... but I'm definitely going to re-check. This is a 1992 Pickup. The wiring might be different than your 1985 (assuming your sig is right).

Just run fused 12v strait off the batt. Or if you care about the radio turning on and off with the ignition, find a switched 12v off the ignition.

Well, stupid me I must've somehow missed, or tested the fuses wrong because the problem ended up being a blown dome fuse in the engine compartment.
