Weird dog question

This is totally left field, but there's enough collective wisdom on this board that maybe somebody can come up with something.

I have an 11 year old black lab. He's in great shape. Most people think he's maybe seven. But in the past few months, he has started doing something, if not weird, then different.

Now, when he drinks water out of the bowl, he spills it literally everywhere. Big huge puddles all over the kitchen floor. It's like he holds it in his mouth, lifts his head, moves his head away from the bowl, and then opens his mouth dumping water everywhere. At first, I thought it was just one of those stupid things that dogs do, but then I started to wonder if maybe it's a sign that something is wrong with his mouth and he isn't shutting it the whole way, or indicative of something else.

Any thoughts?

yeah I would agree with some medical issue, get him to the vet.

You guys are probably right. I'll just mattlock and poke his teeth with a pencil until I figure out which one it is and then pull it out with pliers because I love my dog, and you guys had better not tell me that I don't love my dog.




I'll take him tomorrow.

The last Golden we had did that..doc pulled a cracked molar and she never did it again...just a thought.

No. I just don't want my dog to suffer. You know how, when your wife gets a splinter in her hoof and then can't do the donkey show and you feel bad for her? Well I feel the same way for my dog, except that Mexican carnival workers don't pay me money to run a train on my dog.

Maybe there is something cought in his froat. Maybe its like masterbating and it felt good once and he likes it because it feels good. Is he getting dehydrated? Pinch his lips and see how long it takes for the color to comeback.
