Ouch - you are about 3mpg worse than what I get for that extra 1000lbs, including towing (I've got 3500lbs rolling behind me). With gas projected to go upwards of $2 soon, this is getting painful, but FAR better than our friends in Europe. Regular is at $1.91 in SoCal.

Cdan, I have a slip that shows close to the same numbers. Then I moved your momma out of the way and reweighed it.
At last check, the truck weighed in at about 7,100 lbs with my fat arse in it.

Looks like it's time to install a Cummins in that rig so you can still pull some hills.
My 1 ton dually 4x4 with a CTD weighed 7200 lbs unloaded and a full tank of fuel. 7100 lbs is a lot to ask from a 4.5 liter gas engine, I'm guessing 8-9 mpg?

so then for a stock unloaded FZJ does ~2750 on the front and ~2550 on the rear axles sound about right?

if the truck is closer to 4900 lbs (maybe those are the 91 and 92's?) then at 52/48 it would be 2550 / 2350?

Wow, old thread! I drive across a scale once a week, most of the time I don't get the numbers, this week I did, 5320 lb without driver or spare tire, with a full tank of fuel, 280 lb of air tools that I was picking up for repair, about the only weight adding mod is the ARB bumper. Next time I will get axle weights.
