how many 81's do you get for a Gwagen?
No idea, nice rig though.

His truck he does everything himself, everything. Was a gas pot to start. Yes no comparison with balance and wheel stuff, I've seen that thing crawl where you'd only see crawlers go . 81 is not a cheap vehicle when rigged comparitably. I think the front arms being inboard off the frame are key. Nice pics looks like a great day, going to have check that one out.
George you missed out on an awesome day man. i took cupcake far beyond the limits i ever wanted to. at one obsticle, only the G didnt make a scene. Jeff, being the gentleman he is, did it with finesse while i did it the a****** way. both styles worked great.

My experience with anything Mercedes is that parts costs are outa sight. Even my Pinzgauer was expensive for parts.

Does it matter
It's like asking on a Toyota forum how many samurai's or datsuns or subarus you could get for an 81, who cares. In some ways your 74 is more comparable to a SWB Gwagon anyways, or it could be with some work to suspension/frame. That's a nice mercedes, good to see something a bit different in trip report pics

very well said. although we are all toy fans, its good to be able to explore and appreciate other options and again nice to mix it up.
btw i think G's are acutaly priced less than comparable LC when it comes to off roading. i've wheeled with Raz many times and have also ridden shot gun in that rig. it works great and probably one of the best stock rigs when it comes to wheeling. also its cool that it came to the market over a decade before the 80's and its still in production today.
the canadian millitay G's are one of the nicer optioned ones around.
