my nephew purchased a 79 pick up with 20r and a stock carb on it, what model weber carb should he order , and what adapters may he need for the install , were would be the best place to order the upgrade from.

I'm certainly no expert on this, but I have read many times that the Weber is not an upgrade, often people go back to the stock Aisin carb.

What's wrong with the carb that's on it now?

well with having a 34 year old carburetor , and the fact that he will not need to smog the truck, i think the weber will be the least costly and best performing carb for him

bone stock 20r should be fine with a 32/36

cam, header etc etc may want to look into a 38/38

or www.brdracing.com can go though a stock R carb and make it outperform a weber.

ebay for an adapter....or I might be willing to sell my Cannon weber intake manifold for a 20r head if he's interested

I love my Weber! I have an '87 4wd stock 22r running 33" tires. I've heard all the negative comments but I haven't regretted my decision. I don't "wheel" (so angles are not an issue) and it's my daily driver. I had a 32/36 I purchased on eBay then swapped over to a 38. No more troublesome vacuum lines, switches etc. If you buy the kit you get everything you need except for a fuel pressure regulator.

I have a 32/36 that came with my 85fj60 I did go back to an ASIN though. The PO didn’t put a fuel pressure regulator in with the swap that was the reason I was running rich so that would be a very important part of any swap you do. I did rebuild the weber before I took it off and would give you a deal on it if you’re interested.
