Been dragging my feet on this for months. Rig is done.
All I need to do is get an oem radio and speaker, antenna, and it will be complete.

Reverse about 3 yrs. ago. You can read about my "newbie" experiences here https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/99015-04-75-frame-off.html
Figured instead of re-writing it all, you could get the beginning there.

As you can see, I changed the color to red. Hence the nickname once it was home in my garage parked next to my :princess:'s yellow fj.
She loves mustard, I am a ketchup kind of guy.

Fast forward about, eh, 4 months from post #158 in the build thread.

Some of the things I remember about this build-
My 9 yr. old boy reaching up to pull the long grommet for the w/w motor.

my 5 yr. old son sanding small parts...

Cory and Kevin coming to the shop and toeing in the rig properly.
Then having Cory pull the wheel instead of removing the whole steering column...

Phil helping install all the plated nuts for the hardtop(and discovering the two parts above both doors came apart:doh:)

Flat towing to the exhaust shop.
Then later blew up the exhaust:bang:

Calling an old school mechanic friend of mine. Determined the points were toast. Replaced that .

Calling Steve(poser) a million times asking him numerous questions about everything.

Waiting for WEEKS to get my seat covers, front heater, and blower (worth the wait Shane)

Spending over 3 times what I paid for the rig restoring it:eek:

Calling Cdan and asking random non descriptive part questions, and hearing him say from memory, "Discontinued." Thanks to Cdan for A LOT of non discontinued parts.

Big shout to my electrician buddy for doing the wiring with me.

All in all, I know I am leaving out a ton.

Oh ya buying a half tub with no nutserts . Now they are going to come with them...

All in all it was a great project seen to completion. In hindsight, I prolly should have disassembled the motor and painted it show room as well as the t-case. But with 50k miles, I did not find it necessary. And is the case with every project I am entertaining this on http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/1567125098.html

As the above add reads, if it sells it sells, if not , it does not.
I did find a '71 toyota hilux in North Dakota during a waterfowl hunt... Another project. we will see.

I can answer any questions I left out . Enjoy the pics

one more

I found one more of the completion.
Also remembered to thank Ed(Degnol) for some crucial motor mount pics. Plus Steve said he gives free dentist advice....

Notice the plating and new oem parts I got(thanks Trollhole for the Ralph Hayes hookup as well.)

As far as I am concerned this build was a mud group build. As stated in post one, I am no mechanic, however I can disassemble and reassemble anything. Thanks to the mud contributors.

Extremely nice!

Clearly you're a perfectionist Scott! (aka - OCD-sufferer :hillbilly:)

simply a "stock" guy. The only mod I did was the ome 2.5" lift.
I forgot to mention I still have the original snow cruiser tire for the carrier with the "tiny" rubber nobbies still intact along with the factory rims with new oem hubcaps:cool:.

If the tube on the air cleaner (in the pic) hasnt been plugged then you need to plug it. Great looking truck!

Tube is plugged. IIRC there is a "flap" inside.

Restored stockers are sweet. I remember your build up turned out great the little details really make this rig thanks for sharing
Thanks-glad you enjoyed.

I'm surprised you're selling. I am about 80 percent done with my own rebuild and can't imagine turning around and starting over. So I have to ask WHY?? Need the money, addicted to the process, or just don't like driving it?

I am a contract painter for a living. I get instant gratification every time I get a job done. This is the longest "instant gratification" I have endured. So when I get something done, I look for other things to get done. Kind of a sickness.
I don't need the money, and I do like driving it. I have been throwing around the idea of yanking the motor/tcase and redoing all that and making a real show truck out of it, but meh, not too sure on that.

I did find a '71 toyota hilux in North Dakota:hhmm:. Might tackle that if I can get ahold of the owner.

Beautiful Land Cruiser. Thank you for keeping it stock. There is no better way in my opinion and you have done it up right. Though, I would thinking about changing that chrome bezel...Again, great job!

I like the chrome. I have so much stainless, it just goes with it.

Another thank you to Pinhead and JimC-
Pinhead told me where the coil wires went. Went to the shop and hooked them up properly and the cruiser fired right up!
