I'll be installing a Webasto Top C unit in the next couple weeks and have a question. I'd like to make this install as painless and clean as possible (as opposed to painful and crappy as possible). I also plan to install a set of BMW seats which require the elimination of the rear heater.

Can I just install tap into the coolant system where the rear heater currently connects in the engine bay?

In the picture below I would disconnect the rear heater and connect to the Webasto unit as illustrated.

I want to be sure that the fluid will be circulating through the engine and, if the heater valve is open, also through the heater core. Most installs I've seen use the heater core loop on an 80 series. I figure if I can do it this way I won't have to necessarily have the heater core valve open for it to work.

My concern is that the coolant may be pumped backwards (or not at all) through the system. Maybe I would need to install a check/backflow valve.

Thoughts?
