It's official.... We're headin' to Texas (back to Texas in Deb's case), this time for good.

Deb's been offered a relocation package and a new position within the company that'll start in March. The alternative was a severance package so it was a no-brainer.

The down side is I'll be looking for a job (again), but that's been a recurring theme the last two years. I've had to stop ordering parts for the 40 so I can get the house here ready to sell.... Gotta finish out the basement this winter, refinish the deck and paint the trim this spring. Got some friends from church coming over to help... They work for BBQ and I can handle that.

Her office will be in The Woodlands. Not exactly where we wanted to be, but we ain't payin' for the move so I guess that's okay. We've started looking around the Magnolia area.... seem to have really good schools. Hoping to find a couple acres so I can park all my junk and build a shop to work on the 40.... Or at least park it 'til I have an income again.

We're planning a couple trips to the area to check schools, churches, housing, etc. I may be calling some of ya for place to crash on the way down and back.

Mike

Sounds like Kowpoke's a little worried!;p

I'm excited for you Mike. Your eyes have been opened up to a lot of things in the last couple of years, and being able to take all of that with you to TX is going to be a great thing for you AND your family.

You're welcome to drive my rig at the Roundup if you don't get your junk back together.

Good stuff Mike! Let me know if you need a crash pad here. I can't remember where in Kansas you guys are now, but you're probably just as far away from here in The Woodlands. :D

Thanks Jason.... DFW is about the half way point

We're hoping to go down for a few days after Christmas or right after the first of the year.

Daaayum..... Tough crowd :grinpimp:

Yup. They treat you like a salesman when you're on the doorstep. But once you're in the house, your family.:)

No worries..... We're finally headed to Texas and someone else is paying for the move.

We started going through some of the "stuff" in the basement tonight..... How the heck to people collect so dang much junk?????

I've got 3 months of work around the house just getting ready to move.............

When I moved Momma from her house into her apartment, I had a roll-off dumpster delivered to the driveway at the house ... made movin' alot faster. :grinpimp:

:flamingo:
:lol::lol::lol:

We're doing that right now.... filled the trash cart last night with Deb's stuff and I'm startin' on mine now. It'll be at least two carts and I ain't even looked at the garage yet :bang:

Just think, you won't be but about 4.5 hours away from Katemcy! Congrats Mike. Good luck.

Later,

Welp, we got the relocation package worked out, looks like we may come out ahead on the move.

Katemcy is 4.5 hrs., New Orleans about 6, Padre about 2.5 and lots of jobs available.... at least in Houston.

Looks like Deb doesn't have to be in The Woodlands til July 1.... another consession, so Holley can finish out the school year and I'm not as rushed to get the basement work done. Looks like we're goona head to Magnolia over spring break to check things out.

Really can't wait.... especially after this damn snow, ice and sub-zero wind chills.

GOOD news!!!!!!!!

Ya know we only need a few minutes notice for ya'll to crash here..........................right Kowboy???

It's only about nine weeks til the Roundup. You can get in some 'scouting' on the way there and the way back. Hint, hint.;)

Nope, it's about a 4.5 hour drive from Mason and I don't wanna miss that much of the Roundup ;). We are planning on being at the Roundup, minus the 40 this year :frown:..... No way to get it done with everything else that needs to get done to the house, unless of course I ship it off the Georg or JK AND they'll let me payments......

Indeed sir.

Just gotta watch that bed in the spare bedroom ... damn thang's like 5 feet off the ground ... hate to roll off in the middle of the night.

I'd be callin' The Wise One if'n I was you.

I did.... but since Josh took up rough neckin' they don't have the extra hands to take on a conversion project.

Been thinkin' on linkin' it and dumpin' those ol' skool leaf springs and swappin' the axles for a D60 & 14b combo too...... Sounds like a JK project but I ain't that kinda cash knowing I'll be looking for work again soon :D

I'd be content getting the 5.7/NV4500/Atlas II, cage and wiring done tho...... if'n the wise has changes his mind of course.

Debi is officially a Texas resident again....... Got her all moved in and setup in Fireman's old travel trailer at a trailer park.... err RV park in Conroe. No, Kowboy, I won't be postin' up the address :flipoff2:.

I just got back to Kansas (9 hours door to door) to start loading up the 40 on the trailer and pack up the garage before the mover's show up on Monday. With any luck Holley & I will down there for good on Thursday
