Just went thru this same thing. PITA. Ended up cutting the lower left hose because I couldn’t get it off the pump. Thankfully napa had it. Can’t recall the PN but I had to trim about an inch of both ends. So far no problems.

Have you tried unbolting the metal joiner pipe thing and pulling the hose from below?

If you're still having issues getting to hoses or clamps, take a few more minutes to remove some obstacles such as the ps pump and bracket, the air pump and bracket and the alternator...When I did the water pump on my 62, I found I had to take everything out, to have room to work. you need space to clean mating surfaces and for removing and installing hoses. If you're still fighting to get to things, stop and give yourself some space. It is aggravating to remove what seems like more than one needs to do a job, but it is only self inflicted aggravation when you decide to work between a rock and hard place. Trust me; I am the king of "let's do it again..."

Oh yeah that trick w/ a 50/50 or more mix of dawn and dipping the hose ends into it makes life vastly less aggravating for new hose installation. I keep a little Tupperware container of it in the garage. So far nearly 100% of my hose are completely replaced. It’s a great feeling to get them done.
