I’m about to switch to synthetic rope, I’m thinking 3/8 anyone have info or real experience on what length you can fit on there? Obviously I would like to fit as much as possible without causing issues.

Thanks!

Aside from a little algae I think it would be fine I believe the sun would be more of a problem as it’s some sort of plastic like material.

Browsing through the various similar lines on amazon, why did you choose green specifically? Easy visibility so you don't trip over it when you pull line?

I would have preferred black or grey but they all seemed more expensive for no good reason, the green also had free and next day shipping haha

I expect your correct that it wears fast and when sun damaged or old it will get brittle like plastic. That’s why I didn’t want to pay around 700$ for what appeared to be the same manufactured synthetic rope from a different place.

For 120$ I’m ok with changing it every couple years. It sure is nice and light compared to steel cable though. I’m going to be doing some hard logging pulls soon so I should have some updates.

At least if it breaks its not as deadly as steel cable I suppose.

I'd love to loose a bit of weight from the front of my truck. Might try the plastic too. The plastic cable in this price range has pretty decent reviews on amazon; so not sure how bad it could be... There is 1/2" too if strength is a concern....

I get free cable from work, a couple rope blocks.. we could rig up a yarder, you have loads of trees to work with and a big bank, perfect yarder territory!

Or at least a zip line for your kids!!

Funny thing about that monstrosity, 20 odd years ago my dad calls me.
"Hey I'm at a garage sale, you want a block for the winch on your truck? It's ten bucks. Kinda big."

Sure, I says. Thinking, how big could it be for ten bucks?

Since then, my barn has had a bitchin' door stop.

We need another picture with something next to it to show scale. Could be 2" long for all I can tell....LOL
