Thanks Tommy :) LOL, I am assuming the "little do dad thing" is the adjuster. Sitting here laughing, do dad thing. It all comes in the Lokar kit except for the two clevis pieces at the wheel as some are different. Pretty comprehensive kit, they also have several different types of E- brake handles and intermediate cables as well. I've not been disappointed with Lokar gear yet.

OEM GM plug wire and heat shield. Added a set of plug condoms, suspenders and a belt. Good to 1300 degrees

In a drawer of a tool box :) I have always saved any kind of rubber/plastic cap from all sorts of things coming into the shop over the years.

Measure the diameter, go to Lowes or Home Depot, Ace. First I'd look in the hardware isle for caps that go on the feet of chairs and tables etc. Look at the pipe section, many of them have rubber caps on them. Some do dad (I stole that from Tommy :) ) has the right size you are looking for.

Yea Stan i am a pack rat hoarder i keep rubber and plastic caps and do dads also can be used for all kinds of stuff just have to remember what drawer and what tool box lol

I don't want to get all technical and everything but the speedo cap is actually a thing-a-ma-bob.

Pulling all the details together. Replaced the original vapor barrier and installed the door cards. Rear quarter wiring complete. 2 gauge supply.

Just read most of this, Drooled over all the pics, and have to say your work is BEAUTIFUL!

QUESTION:
I am planning to do some rust repair work on my Hilux & Repaint. I was wondering when you dealt with the bare metal What layers do you use? I did see a lot Lizard Skin Products (Like sound and Heat control) But what about the primers? and what paint do you use?! I want to protect this old girl and do it right the first time so just trying to glean some info from a more experienced builder. Any info on this will be more than appreciated!

Thank you.

There is a wide variety of primers and paints that you can use, both materials and manufacturers. I have used epoxy primers, 2K primers and paint systems. I have been using Nason products. A big part of the brand you choose has to do with availability in your area. Talk with local painters and see what they use and where they purchase their materials. Good luck with your body work and paint :)

Thanks NCFJ.

For my steps my plan is to remove all rust, if needing welding in that area use a weld through primer. Sand/Clean all surfaces, Prime everything with Epoxy primer, and use a single stage paint.

I also Checked there is a place about a mile from where I live that sell Nason products!

I have been doing a bunch of little punch list items and not posting much. Got the horn working, typical issue in that the pin was worn down and the ring was corroded. Corrected those issues and all is well.

I had issues with the LED headlights not working. They in turn created HAVOC on the rest of the lighting system. Crazy stuff like turn on the lights and the turn signal indicators on the dash light up solid. Only lights that worked were the marker lights on the front fenders.

Turns out that the LEDs required polarity reversers to function due to Toyotas being switched on the Neg side. NOT A DAMN WORD ABOUT THIS IN THE INSTRUCTIONS! Once installed, everything works as designed.

Halos only, they are actually crisper than the photo shows.

Loaded up and ready to go back to the exhaust shop. Had it there already and found I needed to clearance a body rib above the fuel tank to get it to clear the tail pipe. Got that done and added heat shields to the tank and body. Mike at Mastertone separated a calf muscle doing a friend a fave. He should be back on Monday. No good deed goes unpunished.

Can't wait to put some miles on this girl.

A beauty! Congrats.

Thanks much guys, it's been a long time coming, too long. I've recently overcome some health issues that slowed me down more that I would care to admit and I have hired a guy that is doing well so the pace is picking up around here!
