Wanted: return spring stud

The stud for the return springs for the accelerator linkage for my 64 F135 engine was broken off during rebuild. I have been waiting to put together the pieces for the original linkage. It's a knurled stud that fits into the engine block on the driver's side. I don't have a part number (does anyone?) but it is "K" in this illustration from one of Marv's parts books.

I was unable to pull the nubbin of what was left of mine out (heat, vise grips, slide hammer) and ended up just drilling it. But if anyone has an old 135 block with one in it or has pulled one, I'd be grateful if you could part with it.

I realize I'll probably just have to make something, in which case, if someone has one intact that they can photograph and show dimensions, that would be appreciated as well.

I broke one off too. Drill and tap it with a threaded hole and thread in a bolt. U could cut off the bolt head if you're concerned about looks.

That's the likely plan. How much do they stick out from the block?

Its like 2" or so. If someone doenst post up the actual by the time I get home, I'll measure it.

I couldn't get the nub of mine out of the block, either. I guess that's what you're saying.

I looked at a spare block I have stored away. The part is cracked but still there. Looks like it's pressed into the block. The part that fits in the block look to have splines. I thought it was screwed in which would be easier to removed. Is this correct that it's pressed in?

Yes, it is a press-in, knurled with splines that are parallel to the shaft. We were unable to get the stub of my old one out. Tried kroil, MAPP gas, and a gear puller attached to a vise grip. Finally went with a cutoff wheel and drill bits.

But maybe someone else will have better luck?

I was thinking about trying to pull the one on the extra block since I'll never think I use. But it was already broken. All the other one blocks have a matching cruiser to go with it so I'm not going to try on any of those at this time sorry.

No.. I have one, it's in a bare block I do not ever want to need. I was thinking of the irony of changing out a block to replace a stud, or being able to rid myself of a block for the want of a stud...I get out waaaaay too much.

I will try to pull it in the morning, I'll let you know how it goes....
