Wanted: one wheel

I need a 16" FJ25-style rim for my spare tire. (Either with or without hubcap clips.)

(Actually, a 15" will do and I can just mount a slightly taller tire on it to match the ones on the ground.)

That's a tough one Steve. I had to buy a whole 25 to get a set.

Problem is the backspacing, you can't use a FJ40 wheel, it hits the tie rod end in front (it will work fine in the back). I can check the backspacing for you but it's around 2". If we get you the dimensions you might just want to get a custom one made.

Thanks for the scoop on the FJ25 vs. FJ40 backspacing. Tim at Landcruiser Specialties is sending me an OEM 15x5.5 rim. Do you think that will be narrow enough to have a lesser backspacing to fit the front?

Nope, afraid not. It will only fit the back. That is, if your front end is all original.

Darn. Then I guess if I get a flat in the front, I'll have to do a Chinese fire drill with my front and back tires.

Carry spacers for the front wheels.

I'll just put the lug nuts on the backside of the wheel.

I have some old Chev rims that might work, at least they look close, just cut a hole in the stock location...you can prolly find them out there, the centers need to be widened for the front hub

Yep, I was going to bore out a Chevy rim until I tracked down the stock 15x5.5 Toyota rim for my spare. It painted up real nice as the spare, the backspacing is a lot closer than the Chevy (less spacers if ever needed in the front) and it even has hubcup clips. But, thanks for the idea, Phil.
