Anyone know of a 101a2 for sale? They are the big ugly 101's.

I need a good heavy duty wood trailer.

I've got a pretty beefy 4'x8' trailer with a ramp and 2' sides if you want to borrow for a few weeks. I've had a ton in it many times and it handles it no prob. Sits unused in my shop 99.9% of the time. If I see an A101 FS, I'll let you know tho.

burnz has one of those. Pretty badass the way it dumps etc.

I'm sorta lusting after one too, although the CRV might struggle with towing it...

They will be hard to find I think. Do you need to borrow one for a couple of uses? In a hurry to use it?

I'd like one sooner rather than later but any old wood trailer will do so long as I can thoroughly overload and abuse it without consequence.

Yes it would... don't buy one. :flipoff2:

I have a trailer sitting at home, but its hard to loan when I'm not there. It will easily haul 3000 lbs.
It has 32" railings, not solid sides. It would be up to you to use some scrap plywood for siding, that is what
I do. Use a 2" ball. If you are really stuck, let me know. I don't get home for at least 16 days, maybe longer.
I emailed a couple of friends in Calgary, seems to be nothing around there either. I do know of one, maybe two for
sale in Grand Junction, Co. But I don't think logical solution. They are mint, with hoops and full canvas covers. ~$1000

Thanks Jon,

Ill keep looking around. I want to find one locally and they do pop up from time to time. They are much less desirable than the 1/4 ton 101's and seem to fetch about half the price. A trip to Calgary these days would double the price (more or less) so finding one on the island would be nice. I just like the fact they dump, have good clearance and with out a doubt can be loaded to the hilt without any complaints. I doubt a guy would loose any money on one either.

I appreciate the offers to lend me trailers but I really don't like borrowing stuff. The main idea behind the wood trailer is that I don't have to deal with the wood as soon as I get home from cutting it. I can park the trailer near the wood pile and deal with it when the mood strikes. Often completed wood runs are celebrated with a trip to the pub and it all goes downhill from there. :flush:

I understand about borrowing. Hilarious, but not funny - the weekend I finished the trailer my neighbor with 5 kids wanted to road trip to Yukon with his dodge van. I mtn biked with his oldest son, and he had 2 autistic foster kids, so I got kind of attached to the family. So I said, "hey take my trailer" to go with all the kids bikes, BBQ, lawn chairs! They pack up, he's totally stressed out, forgets to hitch the trailer properly and as they drive past my house, waving on their trip, my trailer falls off the ball and donuts right in front of me!! I just about pissed myself laughing. Poor guy was pretty red faced, gets out, hooks up. Oh well, the trailer made it back 3 weeks later in one piece. It's a pretty tough trailer. That was in 1989.
I know a guy on Gabriola with an extra 1/4 ton who might want to sell. I think he was looking for a fair price, but he sometimes winters in Kiwi land. I'll send an inquiry and see. Is that too small? Those damn things are really heavy, wouldn't want to tow one.

Good story Jon ^

Believe it or not I already have a 1/4 ton 101. its a great little trailer but its too small for a chord of wood. If I pack my short box truck, half of which is taken up by a tidy tank and tool box..... and the little 1/4 ton 101 to the absolute hilt with wood overflowing everywhere I might... just might, have a full chord. Ive done it but its a pain, its sketchy, the trailer doesn't dump.

At the moment my 1/4 ton is in the garage under glacial paced construction, it has the roof top tent on it and some other stuff all of which don't help carrying wood.

Too bad about the exchange rate right now. Pretty painful.

Ya, there are a few in Washington. Prices really vary. Newer ones have the surge brakes older ones don't. Some have a hand brake. It looks like there are a few different styles over the years and some got a re fresh by the military at half life.

u can borrow mine if u have a pintle hitch. it'll cost u beer OR bring it back full of firewood...

I don't know if he has another one for sale. I thought he did, but he's asking around $1500. Cost him a bit to buy, and then
get out to the island. I could ask him I suppose
You know they are really heavy. I'd never own one, like towing around a trailer full of wood
when it's empty.

Is that one for sale?

Are you asking about trailer in the quoted pic?

The trailer in the above quoted pic is a little 1/4 ton 101. Light and easy to tow with a cruiser, I easily move mine around by hand in the driveway.

Bump.

Still looking. I have a couple of leads on the mainland and if I ever go over there I will pick one up. Still want one locally. Keep your eyes open lads.
