Anybody selling BOTH IN GOOD WORKING ORDER? OR<<<<<<<<<<<< looking for a COMPLETE restore KIT for 1962 or older FJ40 Transmission / Transfer Case ( bearings, seals and gaskets ). Any advice would be great. Thanks, FJFJFJ

Early 3spd T&T-Case

You might try Merl at Classic Cruisers in Salida CO, I don't have the number handy sorry. What I do know about them is the trans likes to drop 2nd to 3rd syncro pretty easily. The T-case is pretty solid. I would just go with the later 3sp and T-case, they are MUCH better units and mount up is all the same. That being said, if you are doing a true resto, bearings and seals should be available via any good bearing house. I haven't found any really odd ball stuff yet. The Syncro, you might try Spector, Marv used to keep a lot of old stuff.

Finding a working early three speed is a tall order. One the is know to be in good working order is probably all ready in a vehicle. Of all the early 61/62/early 63 you can probably count the number on the road with original transmission and transfer case still in it. Of the four sets I've got none have any miles by me. Funny the biggest rust bucket the inside looked the new. I will end pulling it apart to add the PTO gear. Like was mentioned bearings and seals taking to a good bearing shop can get them off the parts on the idea. Have only had a problem finding one bearing but that was custom press on wheeling use to do away with the C clips in the differential. Every thing I needed as far as bearings and seals room rebuild differentials I was able to get from US Bearings. I can get you any Toyota parts you want if you want to try that way. You dealer will not have the number but it is possible some of the parts may still be available from Toyota.

Living in the Past,,,,,,,,,,Thanks man. Will see how I go on this Transmission / Transfer of mine and get back to you when I run into trouble. Perhaps you can assist me then. I did get a Transfer Case Rebuild kit from Georg. Working now on Transmission parts. The cruiser is coming along nicely, about a month away from being done if I can get these details taken care of. Regards, FJFJFJ

Thanks Pardion and everyone else for the assist. Will let you know if I need something. I have realized that the 1962 is a rare bird, parts not ez to find. Glad it has 99% of them intact. FJFJFJ
