Any of the yota tranny rebuild "how to" manuals /videos out there for the W56 4runner tranny?? Rebuild kits look reasonable. Mine is getting whiney and would like to attempt it myself. Thanks in advance for any info.

My understanding is that there are a lot of special tools required. I am going to have one rebuilt myself soon but I am opting to send it out.

It's not hard, but you will need a press and a bearing splitter. Other than that, it's common tools. The FSM has a very detailed rebuild on it.

What I like to do is get a bunch of muffin pans or egg cartons, lay them out on a bench. When you pull a part off, drop it into a "cell", with a tiny Post-It of which step number it was removed. Makes reassembly much easier later.
 
I have press's , bearing splitters and hand tools. Just like to read or see it first. There are always tricks n tips to doing it right the first time.
 
i have a bunch of fsm and assorted tranny rebuild manuals pm me and ill make a copy of w series one
