Hi All,

I'm putting this in it's own thread for more visibility. I know there are different types of these VSV's. Mine is on a 72 and I didn't have much luck finding an answer with the search. I just ordered some new 3mm vacuum hose from Toyota but realized that my VSV has a broken port. I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on how to best deal with this?

What I would do. Find some sort of metal tube you can hot rod (melt) into the fitting/hose that is there. Should go in at least 1/2" a little more might be better and stick out about 3/4". Then you need something that will fit over that metal tube but a good fit to your vac hose. You can glue all the joints to help have a perfect seal. You could also take it apart and try for a better replacement nipple but you risk more damage to old plastic that could easily crumble. I'd do my first trick first and if no joy than open it up.

Folks usually toss these, I'd just find one with good ports and swap cover to yours or swap entirely.

Since the cover is cast aluminum, I can't tell if it has a brass/copper vac port underneath, if it does you could extract and press in a new port with some tube, I do that often with carb bases when they break during shipping.

I went out to the shop to get a picture of it but can't seem to find it right now. Hope I didn't toss it.
