Well got the problem solved this morning. It was the map sensor all along. Put the new one in and it ran better from the minute I turned the key to start it. Now it's instant throttle response, no stumble and pulls hard from idle to red line.

Thanks for all the help, I still plan on having my second ecu programmed, can't hurt having a spare. So far I have no stalling issues but I think I am going to order the jtr reluctor ring anyway.

On another note, what are you guys running for air filters? I have a k and n filter with a 3.5 base and it is crushing down the lip on the stock plastic elbow.

I use the stock GM 5.7 vortec air filter housing and generally run the WIX hd filter. I bought a FJ80 air filter housing and may try and adapt to it later on to have a better water tight setup. Got to much to do before I start screwing around with the air filter housing though.

Good deal on the map sensor. When I had my 5.7 vortec running initially I did not have a vss and would get random stalls and poor power. After I setup the downy VSS adapter...no problems. That map sensor can be some ##$% to figure out. Downy went out of business though... I do use the GM VSS sensor that matches the 99 year model.

I never got a single code for the map sensor, and I wish downy was still around they made some good stuff. I have a set of their shackles that open, they work pretty good, gets another 4-5" of droop out of the rear end.

I drove around all day yesterday with no issues but it really seems the vss just helps overall drive ability. It will be the next purchase most likely
