CLC Members: Volunteer with CORE on Friday, July 17th in Buena Vista, 9am to 4pm.
CORE supports the High Lonesome ultra-marathon on Friday, July 17th by providing "taxi" service from Cottonwood Lake to Green Timber aid station (and reverse in the afternoon). The aid station is approximately 3 miles up the road from the Lake parking lot/group campsite on Forest Road 344, Mineral Basin. Passengers are friends & family of runners on the course. They park below and get a ride from 4x4 volunteers to the aid station; later in the day, 4x4 volunteers "taxi" them back down to the parking lot.
The purpose is to minimize traffic on the forest road, and to mitigate the lack of parking space at the aid station.
CLC members have done this several times over past years. My personal experience has always been positive--I've met people from across the US, always friendly and talkative, always appreciative that 4x4 clubs support their sport. Last time I did it, I think I made 12-13 trips carrying 2-3 people each time.
Post below or send me a DM if you have a question.
