Hi all. 2013 200 series with 182k miles here. I have been experiencing a vibration in my steering wheel. The vibration is more of a hand numbing vibration than a shake. It is very pronounced at highway speeds. In addition I am also experiencing a lot of wandering and loose steering at highway speeds. Occasionally, the steering wheel will shake with braking (especially when the cruise control does the braking) but this is not all the time and seems pretty random. Because I can't always make the steering wheel shake during braking, I think that the brakes are OK and look to have plenty of life left on the pads. I have replaced UCA and ball joints, LCA and ball joints and outer tie rods as well a rebuild on bp51 shocks in the past year, so kinda rules those out. In addition, I have new tires as of a few months ago which have been road force balanced twice and 3 different alignments done. Things have gotten better through all of this but still have the hand numbing vibration, wandering loose steering, and occasional steering wheel shake during braking. Any help or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Please pardon the intrusion, I know nothing of a 200, but, you have a steering box somewhere, I assume? Check it's mounting bolts torque maybe. I had a similar experience once...

Two more data points might help the experts on here…..1) when did this start and how long has it been going on? Was it associated with new tires or any of the suspension work? 2) what modifications other than the BP51?

Has been going on for some time. New tires and LCA replacement helped a lot of what I had going on as far as wandering and a strong pull. The BP51 and new ball joints in the spc UCA resolved a popping noise. It has BP51 suspension, spc UCA with new ball joints, a sway bar relocation bracket in the rear, 285 75r17 toyo oc atiii, as well as full armor and rtt.

Spitballing..... rotate the tires to rule out a bad belt, could possibly be the bearings.

Do you feel it ONLY in the steering wheel? Or do you also feel it in the seat, through your feet, anything like that?

Intermediate steering shaft is my thought.

Shaking while braking == warped rotors. More shaking at higher speeds.

I had a wheel vibration at about 50 mph. As I've removed the wheels from various times I noticed that the mounting surface of the wheel hubs were caked with some rust. I could have took time to shave the wheels and hubs with 320 grit but I decided that it would be easier to replace the wheels. Problem solved !

I feel it through steering wheel and feet.
How intense is it through the floor? I’d focus on things other than the steering column for now. It’s very pricey and rare to fail.

Does it change in frequency with speed or just intensity? Is there anything you can do to change the noise while driving? Things such as accelerating, coasting, turning, hitting a dip in the highway, etc.
