Thanks David I did not know that makes sense though also forgot to mention a friend told me the same thing about the locker.

Do you think that the problem is the pinion angle ? I checked them once but plan to check again tomorrow they should be the same right say 4* positive to 4* negetive

Thanks

Burl,

What's the *last* modification you made before the vibration started ???

When the locker was installed in my trucks rear axle, I picked up a bunch of vibration, immediately. I'm afraid now it's a feature.

"Lunch box" locker ??? Interesting term.

Cheers,

It could be the pinion angle but I doubt it. Drop the rear shaft then drive it in FWD and see what happens.

dd113,

Think it's the locker ?

Cahil

P.S. Normal vehicles would move at all with the rear driveshaft out. Why is the Cruiser driveable ? Limited slip in the transfer case ?

Sure you can drive it. I have had to do it more than I like to mention. RR output will turn but not engage the shaft as it is not there. Helps to tell if it the shaft. The locker will still function but there will be no power going to it so it wont vibrate much if it is actually vibrating.

I dont think it is the locker. I bet the vibration was always there but the lift magnified it.

David I'll try that tomorrow and see but what will this tell me ? the driveshaft or pinion angle?

The problem really started after the lift.

Thanks

LASTEST UPDATE: I pulled the rear shaft and very little vibration took shaft to driveshaft shop chucked up only .003 out so not shaft.

Pulled rear diff found metal "trail" from front pinion bearing down access port from front of diff also found 4 grooves in carrier bearing on left side and 8 grooves on right side.

I ordered a overhaul kit from Robert at Liquid Offroad does this sound like my problem?

Thanks
Burl

Latest UPDATE: I have had the 3rd member rebuild and reinstalled problem is slight vibration still there. There also seems to be some "drag" now like brakes are dragging. I have checked the brakes NO DRAG but found that the transfer case seems warm at the output shaft. Theres no slop at the shaft but have a full rebuild kit for the t-case on order but does this sound like where my problem is ??

Thanks

Burl

UPDATE: I have had the driveshafts shorten appox. 1 1/4" since last post seem to definatly helped the drag problem but still have a vibration in the rear.

Things tried: placed rear on stands and rotated axle found that it seemed to be a little wobble in the right rear wheel pulled it and changed to spare same tire brand new vibration a little less but still there.

Question is can a bad wheel bearing in the rear cause this ?

Thanks,
Burl

Possibly..

You might recheck the flange angles btw. the t case and the pinion. You can do that with a measuring tape by taking the top to top( of the flanges) and bottom to bottom measurments. If they're the same the angle is good if there more than an 1/8'' out then you need to change the angle of either the axle or the gearboxes.
