I admit I am both a pack rat and procrastinator,

Anyway I recently moved, at the bottom of one of many "To Do" piles was a forgotten package, inside was a 10K mile oil filter from one of our upstanding members,

It post marked several years ago

Anyway it was now at the top of the "to do" pile at the new place, did an oil change and cut this one along with my own, not sure it is of any use anymore but here are pictures anyway.

All I found was one bit of grit/sand (pictured on the dime) and some carbon in the end, completely normal.

Tiney bit of grit, looks like quartz?

I think that was actually from my 15k mile oil change test. For those who weren't around, I ran Mobil 1 extended use oil for 15k miles and only added 2 quarts during it. I sent an oil sample out and had it analyzed.

They said it could have gone a few more thousand miles minimum.

I posted the report on Bobistheoilguy.com and their take was pretty funny.

Thanks for tearing into it RT.

15K? Nice, and no metal not even some random aluminum glitter,

Been running 10K OCI's for a while now I have been thinking about going further,

sorry it took me so long.

I think that was actually a diamond that you found there! :hillbilly:

Nice to know that these filters are working so hard so we don't have to. :D

Thanks for posting, RT!
