This 1973 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser was registered to 2 owners before it was purchased by the seller in 2020. The majority of this FJ40’s time was spent in California and is now in Florida. The truck is powered by the original F155 inline 6, linked to a 3-speed manual transmission in the floor, and a dual range transfer case (2H, 4H, 4L) with locking hubs up front. The winch has been re-cabled with new line. The 15-inch steel wheels are mounted with Dayton Timberline LT tires (30x9.50xR15). Braking is handled by 4-wheel drum brakes. The brakes and master cylinder are said to have been replaced in 2019. The brake vacuum booster was replaced by the seller. The parking brake shoes were replaced by the seller.
The cabin features a locking Tuffy console, LED interior, cabin, and instrument panel lights, the original Toyota Nippon AM-FM stereo radio Model 5222. New headliner, floor mats, and radio speakers. The steering wheel frames the speedometer, as well as gauges for voltage, oil pressure, cooling temperature, and fuel level. The odometer indicates 42,000 miles, approximately 2,000 of which were added under current ownership. This FJ40 is outfitted with the much-coveted "Unicorn Backup Light".
During the seller's ownership, the truck received a complete rebuild of the front wheel knuckles, wheel bearings, and trunnion bearings. The rear axle bearings and seals are also new. All 4 shocks and the steering stabilizer were replaced, and all leaf spring bushings and shackles were upgraded to the greaseable type in 2024. During the previous owner's time, the ignition system distributor was upgraded from the mechanical system to an electronic (Pertronix) system. The seller had the engine tuned recently, and engine compression is excellent, with average compression at 146 psi. (C1 147psi, C2 152psi, C3 154psi, C4 140psi, C5 140psi, C6 142psi). The cooling system works effectively with a new water pump, thermostat, and hoses. The electrical harness and all electrics have been repaired. The headlights were upgraded to City Racer LED lights.
