A friend of mine dropped his Jeep Cherokee through the ice last winter and had water up to the dashboard for a few hours. He had it running a week later........ with a new engine, tranny, ecu, and other various sensors.;p

Well, like Greg said... new engine, tranny, ecu and other various sensors... I'm sure that several weeks would not have made much more difference. ;)

Mark...

jeeps suck, and my bj60 was under water for 9 days, sat in the bush for 3 days and sat at home for 2 days till i fired it up, and it runs just fine, just got to wait till some more crap dries out, like the fuel cut junk. think i might just fire in a manual cable for it though? and i'm still waiting on the good pics. if your realy in a hurry for some sweet pick just go sink your rig, i'll help you get it out and you can have your own copycat story with pick and vid of the great extraction. or mabe you will just wait?

Is The Beast the new name? I think it has earned it.

Nice work man, lookin forward to the photo essay.

no, it is just a beast, the new name is......
"The Screaming Green Submarine" i think i'll put some kind of floating snorkle about 25 feet and some breather tubes off the turbo so i can ride it out next time.;)

joe... put a small heater in the truck overnight with a window cracked. that might dry out the relays for the edic enough. also would not hurt to dry it out pretty good.

Just head on down to Torrance, CA and slap the big wigs in Toyota up the side of the head and tell them that!!

That was epic, balls of steel dude! It must be unreal to go through the thought process from dropping your truck into an abyss, thinking about what the hell to do, and then pulling it all off. Congratulations again!

What a adventure and of course a learning lesson. The way you discribed the river was in my mind as narrow with swift water rapids. This was something much larger according to the picture. Neverless you perservered "like me" and probebly faced some critisizim long the way.

I wonder if there should be a deep water recovery kit made for such a case as this. Polyvinal reinforced plastic ballons with a high volume air pump would pull the rig out of any type of mud then float it to the surface. Some one I know has a zodiac boat and the skin on it is tough. The material used in the construction of this boat would a tough and flexible enough material to use in the construction of the ballons.

So a kit like this would take the least effort to deploy in difficult terrain and you have the sweet option of pulling the truck in any direction as it floats to the shore in a lake. Cables would be needed to control direction of where truck would need to be dragged onto the shore in the event the rig was in the river.

How could I miss that thread? Amazing story. I'm happy that the truck and yourself got out nearly unscathed, it could have been a lot worse (shivering). Would you have more pics of the rig as it is now?

Go to youtube.com

well, where to start?

i'll start with i broke all the 4x4ing cardinale rules you can and even more. i'll cut this short i was testing the new 3b and it started as a drive around town then down the back roads and in a river and off the bank and now she sits on her roof 15 - 20 feet under the lake. just wondering if anyone could give a hand in the rescue of my rig before the river rises anymore. I'm working an a diver and some trucks i have a 8000 winch and not enough rope yet.
i'm trying to set this up for saterday oct 20. if anyone can help that would be sweet. I live in campbell river on vancouver island.
here is my e-mail l_smirfitt@hotmail.com thanx Les
