I'm sure some pics would help out here, just don't have any yet...

I was told about this vehicle from a friend and don't know too much about the 45s as far as what kind of money a clean one is worth. Keep in mind this is an original AZ vehicle. One owner, the lady who owns it now says that it was handed down to her from her father who bought it new in 66...

Don't know how much truth there is in this but she said that there were only six that were imported that year...

I know that it is straight and rust free, but has been sitting for quite some time. Also it does not have the lumber rack.

Just looking for some ideas on where to start here. I guess it's all relative to how much you are willing to pay right? So is 5-7k about right for something that is need of a complete resto?

newbie?

So you are too new to know what it would be worth....say, I'd be happy to help you out. Just send me the address and I'd be glad to run by and take a look for you.....considering how helpful we are.

There are probably another couple hundred helpful guys between you and California too.

No really, for a straight original one, without rust, the cost could go even higher.

Good luck,
Dukes

there are no true 66 FJ45 swb's.......they ended in 64, but it might have sat on the lot for a few years. 6 imported................BS is my guess........sounds like a salesman to me ;)

how long is 'quite some time"? six months or ten years. engine may need complete rebuild by now. where's it been sitting? inside away from elements, or outside buried in a snow drift? it may not look rusty on the outside but the entire underside might be toast.

It has been sitting outside, so I would imagine that the sun has taken its toll on the interior and the paint is faded but doesn't show much surface rust.

I don't think it's been on the road since early 80s. Still working on my source to get some pictures...

Make sure you get pics of the inside of the bed, especially the vertical sheetmetal supports. #1 problem with the SWBs.

I think you'd have to look long and hard to find a rust free removable top 45 for under 5k any more.:frown:
