Curious about the menu ideas from those that will be treating their ___________ (insert the proper descriptor :D) to a home prepped meal for Valentine's Day...

I haven't a clue about any of what I'll prepare, savory side of the dealio, 'cept to say, ahem she says, 'it better not be pizza' :D.

Working the menu backwards...I'm going to make crepe souffles for dessert ala Jacques Pepin.

I let her pick the menu Dan... she hates going out on Valentine's... (she's not a "girly girl".. I GOT A GOOD ONE, IMO...) So, more often than not... king crab legs, filet mignon with haricots verts almondine and twice baked potatoes seem to please her immensely with some sort of dessert involving milk chocolate and strawberries... :meh:

Had my late birthday/our early V-Day dinner tonight.

Little real deal Japanese sushi restaurant in Carmel. They had live spiny lobster...so we just had to order up. And damn it I'm so pissed I didn't get a video! The owner, Shin, butchered it right in front of us...diced the tail meat and then served it mounded atop the tail. Then he took the still quivering/moving head and propped it up on the plate...we were attacked twice! Then after the head finally stopped moving he took it along with all the legs, leftovers and made soup for us!

And then had this:

Crazy good. Tasted like equal parts quality sake, whiskey and scotch...and only 24% alcohol. Something totally new to me!

The previous time we were there he had live uni (sea urchin) that he cracked, cleaned and presented as sashimi for us...as good as it gets for this cowboy :D
