What is the exact process to convert my vacuum t-case to a manual lever shift? After I remove the
vacuum housing what do I need to do? What parts do I need to install? Anyone have pics and parts for me?

Hey Jon, thats funny, I have the same transfer case in my LJ78 as you have in your rig. Also vacuum controlled. Anyhow, reason I mention, is I was reading about it yesterday here: http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/tech_split_case.html Scroll to the bottom and they talk a bit about the conversion from vacuum to manual.

So I copy....and paste

Nick, thank you very much. Geez, another beer I owe you..
I presume these parts are all available from Toyota? I'll check into it.

Vacuum Shift - Manual Shift Conversion

It is possible to convert the 8/87' and later split transfer cases to manual operation, identical to that found in the early versions. Below is a list of parts needed to perform the conversion:

90254-05004 - Roll pin for front axle operation rod
36313-60050 - Rod front axle
(Then you need a hollow 15mm nut, spring, and ball, drill and tap which is common to 34/38mm manual cases)

36307-60030 - Lever arm hi/low
36362-60040 - Gold cad arm for lever above
(Also common to 34/38 manual cases)

The machining is there for front rod seal.
