v6 rear axle

i want to put a ifs rear axle in my truck. i found a 1990 v6 axle no 3rd for 100 bucks. will it just bolt in? what do i need to get or should i just get spacers? how do i convert a 1986 axle into my truck

Pretty sure the spring perch spacing will be the same, but you will need wider U-bolts since the perches are much wider. I suppose you could just use the U-bolts from the newer truck, make sure you get the bottom plates too. This would be a good time to install a U-bolt flip kit, but you'll also need to figure out what to do with the rear shocks.

Wait... this is a '79. I think they came from the factory with the rear shocks in the /\ configuration (why did they change that?). So you can't use the newer bottom U-bolt plates, the shock mount will be in the wrong place. But, the good news, a U-bolt flip will be really easy.

Are you looking for IFS width, or v6 strength. Because the v6 strength upgrade is in the 3rd member.

is an IFS rear axle with no 3rd really worth 100$? s*** that sucks Ive been giving them away.
