All,

As mentioned at the Meet and Greet, thanks to Darin for reminding me, and also posted under the Uwharrie 2012 sticky thread, this weekend 25FEB2012 is a Uwharrie work weekend.

It is VERY important that we maintain a high profile with these work weekends, as we sponsor Wolf's Den and part of our agreement for the signage is putting in a certain amount of work hours on the trail system.

This is also much more important due to the closures in other NFS and NPS access to offroad vehicles in Tellico and OBX. The forest service in Uwharrie is actually pushing for opening more trails due to grants set aside in the gas tax.

If you've never worked a work weekend at Uwharrie before it can range from putting up guard rails, trail signage, filling low areas with rock, and just general cleaning. There's work for all ages and abilities, and we usually tackle tasks as a group. Best thing is, if it's a nice weekend, they usually put up free campsites at Arrowhead.

So, this post is getting wordy but I agree with Darin's conversation he had with me at the Meet and Greet. It's our trail system, if we don't maintain it someone else will, and we won't like the outcome....

VERY well put Sir. That was what i was trying to say before i had to cut out for the horses.

This is very personal to me and one of the reasons i quit the Post Office as i was never able to get to any of these as i always had to work on them and all i could do was some work while we were camping up there.

After having been going up there since the late 80's i really consider it my kid as i have none. I have actually helped open / close more trails up there that i care to remember. Way back before they were adopted by clubs it was always up to volunteers to come and do things. Heck i remember back in the early 90's being up there and working on Rocky Mount Loop and the FS got a backhoe stuck bad and i eneded up winching it out of the gulley it was in. I also was very good friends with Art. There is a parking spot in his name now and i know he is happy about that.

Enough of my chatting.

I and i know of plenty of others would really appreciate any help we can get next weekend. It will be both friday and Saturday next weekend as seen here.

Uwharrie Trail Work Day #20, February 25th - NC4x4 Forum

Like I said in the other thread i'm going to try and make it next weekend but I won't be able to confirm pretty much till the day of.

I plan to be there.

I was wondering, is there anyway to post "No Littering" signs? I know that is a long shot but we have to start some where. Maybe we can donate signs. Even the suggestion not to litter will stop some of the mess on the trails.

I'm not sure we need "No Littering" signs.

I think we need "No Bud Light allowed on the Trails" signs!

i think some " if you pack it in then pack it out" type signs might work. But, I am afraid any no bud light signs would just encourage them to stop and take up some target practice.

Sorry, I won't be able to make this one.

Sorry, my daughters first birthday is this weekend.

what time does this start tomorrow going to try and be there.... where is the meeting place this time??? Hunt camp??
