Will the '95+ wiring harness plug into the '94 computer?
Or do I use a '94 harness and plug into the '95+ motor?

I don't need a motor at this time but want to get things worked out now so when I am in a rush to replace the motor I will be ready.

You will need to match the computer to the wiring harness(93-94 vs 95-97), they do not intechange. There are different connectors. Also as I said in the previous post the 95-97 computer contains the chip for the tranny.
thanks dan for correcting me on the distributor. I would of figured that it was different when changeing to OBDII. IT really is not that much trouble to switch out the wiring harness. The bitch is swaping out the pan or the crank sensor. I would also reccomend that you do a head gasket and seal and pan seal if the engine is out to save lots of time over doing these in the truck. It takes me a day to do a head gasket, pans and seal if the engine is out of the truck. where it would take almost 3 days to do all the above in the truck. later robbie

So these are my options

1) If I go with a '95+, then I need to swap out the top end parts with my motor ( is the head the same rom the '94 to '95?)

2) get a complete 95+ motor, trany and computer. Remove all may '94 motor parts and install the '95+

3) rebuild my old motor or rebuild a donor motor

4) get a short block from Cdan and rebuild my old head

My 80 runs great as does the rest of the vehicle. And it should, I worked on it!!!
I am doing the reaserch fo the rest of you MUDDERS.

More #'s I like this one;
6) as I don't get to wheel the "war wagon" any more :(, sell the 80, get the wife a Tercel, put the $$$ into the TURD, start a ILVTURDS.COM so that way yu'all won't have to answer any more of my stupid ??? and read my bad advice :D

$50 would be more than most of the members would have invested in their vehicles.

The fee would be $0.50.
