I have an 84' runner 22r that I need help tuning the carb. I just got it all hooked up and it won't idle! I don't know if my vaccume tubes are all wrong as I only had pics and diagrams to work with. I had to swap in a Truck 22r harness from another 84 and the left hand lights don't work! I've spent hours with the wires looking at the colors of them trying to get it to work and have only gotten the rear blinker on that side to work. Is anyone in Salt Lake, Utah willing to help me spend a day sorting this stuff out for $100? (food or free would be nice too! :) I HAVE to get this going NOW! Please help! 801-879-7115 Josh

Josh,

What lights are working and what lights are not? Do the highbeams work? If the left headlights aren't working, there looks to be a separate fuse feeding each one... I'm looking at a 89 diagram, cause that's what I have, check the fuses. They are labeled "Head LH" and Head RH" and are 10 amps. I don't know if they are in the cab fuse box, or the engine fuse box.

I'm not a carb guy, but the FSM says for rough idle/stalling:

Idle speed incorrect
slowjet clogged
idle mixture incorrect
fuel cut solenoid valve not open
fast idle speed settign incorrect )cold engine)
choke system faulty
secondary throttle valve not closed

I hope that helps some.

Ok I'll check those on the carb... As for the lights, My rear running lights don't work, left side front blinkers not working, reverse lights not working. The headlights all work fine. I just need to find what relay the running lights work on, wire up the rear window, and try not to pull my hair out while doing so! I HATE HATE HATE WIRING! It is one thing I NEVER wanted to tackle yet here I am...

I got the lighting all done... HOURS of tracing and crap I NEVER wanted to do on any vehicle! Now I just need to get my carb sorted out... It will run at high Rpm's but if I let off the gas, DEAD! Still have to get out there and nock a few off the list of possiblities.

Yeah I HOPEFULLY am having a mechanic friend come help me but he's a bit flakey so it may be a while... I HATE waiting! This runner has been in my garage for over 3 months!
