NO ONE can grasp what Owning/Operating a business really entails until they have tried it themselves. If it were easy, there would be a shop on every corner profitting a zillion bucks.

My ol lady packed up and left me about 4 years ago... damned near killed me and my businesss. I now realize she did me a huge favor.

I always try to keep communication lines open and take things "1 day @ a time"

sooo... I am trying to get ahold of David. I paid for a brake booster from him Feb 16. and am now getting concerned after reading all these posts. I didn't know what I was getting into.

David, have you been able to send it?

thanks!
Dustin

It's Round Up time and he IS the Foreign Minister of the White Trash of the Elwood chapter. He might be in TX right now. Give him till next week before you get too worried. :grinpimp:

David, I wish you all the best, but honestly, You HAVE to keep communications open with individuals that you have sold/done work/whatever. If you do not. Then you will end up like Simon... I truly disagree with Mark about taking your words on this board as good enough. It would not be for me if I had not heard from you.

Also, if I were owed something (which I am not, I am just an outsider) I would not be overly happy that you were going to the roundup (which I do not know if you are for sure, but it appears so...)

Again, I am not trying to start crap or be an ass. Just advice. I sincerely hope everything works out for you.

ok, hopefully he gets back soon I guess. My booster is all but toast and its on my daily driver.
I hate selling things that require shipping, but always make sure it gets in the mail pronto. I figure if the person I sold it to was quick to pay, I should be quick to ship. I even see a 60 series booster on ebay now for cheaper than I paid.. oh well.

thx-
Dustin

Has anyone heard from David? I bought his 4.88s and lockers and have not heard from him since I sent the check. I too didn't know about this before I sent the check out.

I avoid taking checks from anybody but some do. Some sellers even wait for the check to clear before they ship goods which can take weeks. Not saying this is the case but saying it's happened to me as a buyer in the past.

I spoke with David a little earlier today. I expressed your concerns over the recently purchased items. I am sure he will be in touch with each of you.

He is super swamped at the shop, however he seems to be turning things around. He recently took on a new business partner who should be a huge asset to ULC.

Please let us know if David contacts you.

Cruiserdawg, could you please put in a good word for me? It would be much appreciated. I purchased a Tudra brake booster from him Feb 16 but have not received it or heard from him. I have not been able to reach him.

thanks!
Dustin

Good news guys, dd called me today and everything is good to go. He sent my stuff out. I guess it turned out to be just a slow mail delivery or something. It took him almost a week and a half to get my cashiers check. I guess I was getting worried for nothing. Hell, it took over 3 weeks for ccot to get a check from me one time and I'm in arkansas. I should learn my lesson and start sending my checks certified.

Dustin,
I will try to call him again tomorrow. Don't give up hope. DD mentioned your order today, however I do not remember the details. You will get it.

Jason, while I agree that communication is essential, and that lack of it has been known to start world wars, I also know that things look different from the other side of the counter and the world is not the black and white place it seemed like when I was in high school.

I also know that I am a hopeless optimist and that I believed in Simon right up until the end, so my opinion is jaded. But I still think I did right supporting Simon, and I stand by what I said about David.

We'll talk more at JV this weekend.;)

Glad to see someone bought that as he was suppoed to get back with me about them. I understand its hard to keep up with everything, when owing a buisness. But I think the #1 thing with getting buisness and keeping it is to be personable and have great communication. Price is importants, but good service can trump that at times.

My rear main seal on my 3FE is puking at a faster rate on a weekly basis. I'm staying on top of it until I can get enough money saved to have it repaired. I also need an adjustment on my transfer case to keep my Low to stay engaged when the tranny gets dropped.
If I can't fix this myself (more than likely), I will be taking it to Urban. "Woh is me" if he keeps the wagon for 3 weeks, because I'd rather he, with his excellent knowledge of 3FE's and A440's, keep it that long as opposed to some idiot who thinks Cruisers are nothing but mall queens. Hell, the guy picked me up from the airport on a Sunday once when he was done working on my wagon.
So my business goes to Urban!
