Making plans!! Trying not to over-plan, but do need an idea.


Co/SD trip

Sat-26th, AL to OK, 12 hours (hotel)

Sun-27th, OK to sand dunes, to Silverton, 12 hours (hotel)

Mon-28th silverton to Ophir pass, Alta lake (camp)

Tues-29th, Alta to Imogene to Ouray to mineral creek? ( camp half way)

Wed-30th -Mineral to engineer to Gunnison to Mt Crested Butte? (Or pitkin? (Camp)

Thurs-1st, short trail, 8 hours pavement to Custer or near, SD (hotel) (stop by Slee?)

Fri-2nd SD (camp) meet FJ55s in the morning

Sat -3rd (camp)

Sun-4th (camp)

Mon-5th head home

Tues-6th arrive AL

Wed-7th (extra)

Your Sun 27th plan seems rather optimistic--I mean Oklahoma City to Silverton is 770 miles (but then, I drive an FJ60, LOL). Why not camp in the vicinity of Sand Dunes, or get a motel in Alamosa, Monte Vista, or Del Norte? This would still give you plenty of time to execute what you have planned for Mon 28th.

28th, 29th, 30th look like easy-going days; you won't be rushed at all.

We made it from OK city to Santa Fe in a day in a FJ55 and I figured in a Tundra Silverton wouldn’t be a stretch.

I don’t have any experience with the passes and the times they take. Sounds like it hasn’t been a really snowy winter? But I guess there is still time for another storm.

This will be a learning experience with long trips for us. See how much the kids play and things to do. Trying to slow down my life a little and live more.

Took my last flight Thursday taking an instructor position that is less glamorous but way more time at home with the fam.

Don't know if any part of your route goes through I70 near Glenwood springs, but there have been road closures due to mud slide from an area that burned last year.

we’re headed to Salida first and then towards Alpine loop second half of the week
