This is more than anything a feeler, I'm still saving up the cash I need for this, but I want to see if anyone can point me in the right direction.

I'm looking for an FJ40 to drive until my 1972 is rebuilt, I've finally decided to go on ahead and do a frame-off, but I still want one as a daily driver until the glorious day when it's done.

I'm willing to go as high as 5 grand for a late-model FJ40
What I'm looking for: strong running 2F, disc brakes on the front. That's it.
I don't want a restored, or built rig, and I really don't want somebody's old trail wreck (IE front fenders are still on, no tube bodywork, bobbed rear.) I just want to immerse myself into cruiserdom full-on until my dream rig's done.
I really won't mind if there's rust, dents and warps, in fact, the more "beat" it looks, the more Volvo drivers I'll scare away. :hillbilly:

I chose 78-plus because I know they have the 2Fs, and higher odds of discs, smog issues don't scare me (I'll title it as my '72) That said, I'll settle for anything that has a 2F motor. Preference given to folks that are closer to home (I live in the North Bay, CA) and those who have 81-84's.

Mine meets your criteria, except is technically a 77:

Discs, 2F, 4-speed, runs good and great tires. Lots of "character". However it's kinda far away from you and severely ugly.

Severely ugly? Good sir, the only way an FJ40 could ever become ugly would be if its body was hacked to oblivion:D ...or it had a heep motor, but we don't talk about those people... I think it looks great, and I think the mileage is encouraging. The smog issues are no deterrent, as well. The engine compartment is really clean, too! That's exactly the kind of vehicle I'm looking for,.

I do need to clarify, I just had my first day of work this morning after 45 days of unemployment, so it may be a while, here. (I am now shaking the magic money tree again, no thanks whatsoever to the State of California) I've just seen how slowly things move in this section sometimes, so I wanted to get the ball rolling in advance.
Beyond that, great price for a nice rig, and if I can pull my act together, we may be able to do business in June. (though I hope for sooner)

Godspeed, my brother cruiserhead.
