Hello all,
I've been searching, but haven't found a wiring diagram or setup instructions for the TVSS alarm system in my 93 FZJ80. Box is under the seat and I have the 'horn defeat/valet' rocker switch on the dash.

The remote fob got lost and I'm considering getting a new one. However... I've hated this alarm since day one as it automatically arms itself every time you remove the ignition. This means if you don't actually lock the vehicle, or use the remote to lock the doors/arm the alarm, the alarm still arms itself. The next time you open a door, the alarm triggers honking the horn & flashing the lights.

The manual I have been able to find says this is an option that can be turned off, but doesn't say how. anyone know???

I looked into this a few years back and gave up. This is important to me because I don't actually want an alarm... just keyless entry. My dog jumps around barking and sets the @*! thing off all the time anyway.... and I can't NOT set the alarm... ughh...

If I can't get this thing OUT of auto-arming mode I'd rather rip it out, save the $60-$110 dollars on a single remote, and put in aftermarket keyless entry... however, I think I need a 'jumper' plug to replace the box under the seat as the truck won't start if I just unplug it.

Maybe C-dan could find that for me?

Remote wise, truck didn't come with it and I paid my dealer for one. It's the black oval one:

Thanks all! I really really want to fix this

I believe, according to my TVSS manual, that there is a switch on the box under seat to turn the auto arming on and off. it would be a buried switch, that you you would need a pin for, i think. The problem with these TVSS systems is that there is no standardization - they were installed by the regional importers and different versions were used. You should also be able to adjust the sensitivity of the glass break sensor that your barking dog may be setting off via a radial switch.

Is the TVSS different from the RS3000 system?

I've seen a LOT of information re: alarm systems on here, including the link to Slee's page to the RS3000 Manuals...

Slee - RS3000 Alarm Manuals (Toyota 80 Series Land Cruiser)

If the systems aren't the same, you can just ignore this useless information :hillbilly:

EDIT: Found this on page page 17 of the manual (marked as page 19 in the zip file on Christo's site)

yes, the TVSS is different than the rs3200 - different manual as well. I have it in PDF scan if anyone wants to PM me for a digital copy.

If you still have that manual - I've been looking for several months and would be very happy to get a hold of a copy. I'm rebuilding a 95 gen 1 extra cab and it has the TVSS system.

@jcTHEwIZARD

Already had this uploaded, I posted it in another thread (linked below). This is the manual that came with my 95 Land Cruiser, installed by Gulf States Toyota when imported. Also in the thread are pics/part numbers for working remotes still available brand new from Toyota.
