Hey, does anyone South Island have any experience tuning the 1HD-T? Mine is fueled WAY to high from the PO... diesel just pours out the tailpipe. From doing research on MUD, I THINK all I need to do is tamper with the fuel pump screw, but I'm not too sure. Have the FSM to go through too.

I'm thinking supplied beer, laughs, and maybe a romantic dinner :grinpimp:

I think you might have an injector problem as I doubt the fuel screw has "richend" itself over the years.

If the fuel entering the combustion chamber isnt atomizing properly, it won't combust properly. Therefore you will see that black smoke. Decreasing the fuel may in fact clear a bit of that smoke but you will also see a drop in power.

I think Jeremy found that new injectors were cheaper than rebuilt ones. They are a 2stage injector so calibrating them is tricky after a rebuild as far as I know. Perhaps Action Injector in Nanimo can quote you a rebuild price.

I'm no 80 expert but PM Jeremy as he dealt with this in his old cruiser.

PS Sorry I never made it by your place there Andrew. Want to swing by Jayson's shop (Gammaman) Ill be there a'round 5 tonite.

Sounds good, will drop by. I don't know if it's an injector issue, but I have the feeling it's not. The fuel screw had been tampered with by the PO, it hasn't adjusted itself. And my power is REALLY good... at the expense of the extra diesel I guess. I just want to tune it back to factory specs.

Jay and Cam and I managed to turn down the fuel a bit, doesn't smoke black on accel anymore

Next mod will be a pyro gauge to tell how hot it's running. It's got to be cooler now though!
