Assuming that both vehicles fit my needs, which one would you chose? A tundra 4x4 double cab w/ the big V8, or a FJ base model in Sandstorm with black wheels and a locker?

Tundra http://www.sparkstoyota.com/Toyota-Specials.aspx

FJ http://www.sparkstoyota.com/New-Inventory.aspx

The FJ gets better gas mileage, but has blind spots and tows a lot less. But the FJ looks cool, and is better offroad. What would you do?

Thanks
Jeremy

And closer to $50k. I am trying to stick around $27k. A V8 4wd 4 runner would be nice, but they are over $30k.

Then don't get a Tundra. I just bought my fiance a TRD 4x4 5.7 doublecab Tundra and I got it at 3500 back of dealer invoice and it turned out to be 34,500 out the door soooo go with an FJ!

I guess the Tundra was cheaper than I thought. I woudl have guessed that the tundra would be comparable in price to the GX. I've been looking at low mileage used GXs in the $35k range. I guess another option would be a low mileage used 4runner v8. I'm really surprised the tundra is cheaper than a 4runner.

Of the two options, being that you have a well equiped 40, I'd get the tundra. Then you would be able to trailer you 40 for long distance trips. For me anyway I think the tundra would be a lot more versitile.

Sorry guys, the links were supposed to take you to the exact invoice for each vehicle. Both vehicles sell for $27,000 after discount and rebates.

tundra...hands down...

I take it you're looking at http://jimbarkleytoyota.com/ easiest way to shop for a Toyota...

I am so close to going out and buying the tundra just what you have pictured, I just have to convince myself to not wait until october when the newer models start rolling out....

I guess it all depends on what you'll be using it for. If it were me, i'd go for the Tundra. Good luck with your tough choice.

Wow - how do you choose between two vehicles that have very little in common. Full size work truck, or nimble trail rider. I'd go with a Tacoma, but I might be biased.....

Currently working a deal on the Tundra. Should have something inthe next 2-4 weeks.

Between these two models. The difference between the two is exterior styling and the two tone is $3000 more.

Not quite. The black tundra pictured above is only $27,000. It is a dbl cab 4wd 5.7 V8 SR5 model. There are no deals to be made on FJ cruisers. Tundras are about $6300 off of sticker.

Go with the truck I went threw the same dilema when I bought my 03 tundra '' should I buy the 4 runner or the tundra'' well its been 4 yrs. now and I love it:):):) its a very usefull unit and a tough truck.
plus the price is amazing.I wish we could get them that cheap in Canada.
CHEERS GORD.

yup sounds familiar too... I bought the Tundra because of the flexibility I thought. I chose the tundra dbl cab...seats 5 pretty comfy, and I can use it for a work truck, plus I can tow trailers and a good sized rv if I wanted to. The longer wheelbase is more assuring on rough roads or icy ones too.
But.. I love my 4 runner.. the 2.7 is way better on fuel, at best it is a $7,000.00 vehicle that I am driving across streams and bouncing into rocks, the electric rear locker is a "beauty eh" as Bob and Doug would say! I still have a tough time wheelin something that costs 30 + grand:eek: I wanted to pick up a garden shed package at Home Depot a while back and ended up having it delivered as it would have taken 2 trips and I would have worried the kid running the forklift might have banged up my $45,000.00 Cdn. Tundra... the 40 dollar delivery charge seemed cheap to having a crease or dent in the truck.

I like the ability of a suv to lock and keep bigger things warm & dry in the back. The smaller vehicle is cheaper on gas and easier to park in the city. I considered an FJ but the visibility is poor for city driving.

In some ways to me if I had to have just one vehicle in my driveway..it would be a V6 4runner and a utility trailer beside the house to haul stuff. (the girlfriends family owned the 60 series cruiser and 2 utility trailers for 20+ years) A 6 foot truck box can only haul so much stuff but a 5x10 foot trailer becomes real flexible. my 2 cents..

I went with the Tacoma as well, So I could keep the mileage down on the 80. So pickup... keeping stuff out of the passenger compartment away from precious cargo.....
