looking for a good mechanic in Tucson that knows FJ40's....I'm new to this vehicle and want to get live training....

could you elaborate on necessary repairs and by "live training" i'm assuming you want to do the repairs yourself under experienced guidance?

If that's the case, just pick up a FSM and get familiar with your vehicle that way. It will be awfully hard to find a full time mechanic that will allow you to shadow him/her.

The manual only gets you so far. Need help learning how to adjust and work on carb and advice on electrical gremlins I am tracking down....probably need advice more than a mechanics services but also want someone reliable that knows the vehicle when I have some thing I can't tackle on my own.

1973 FJ40 is a pretty simple vehicle really. I'm sure there's a bunch of people that would be willing to help. What kind of electrical issues do you have?

I was going nuts trying to get blinkers an rear lights to work. Took apart my cluster an rearranged the harness behind and presto! Now I need to figure out hand brake, some harness connections at tranny and some advice about minor leaks at tranny and oil pan...fix em or live with em.

Is your drivetrain stock? You have a 3-speed transmission and Toyota transfer case? F engine I'm guessing?
