I've got an 85 4runner and a problem breaking trunnion bearings. Im running 37" tires and 1.25" wheel spacers which puts a lot of strain on those bearings so im just wondering what others have done to fix this problem. Has anyone run diamond axles under their toy? I'm thinking with the wider axle i can eliminate the wheel spacers which might help the problem. Any thoughts?

Are you breaking high quality bearings, or china garbage? Are you sure you're setting up the pre-load correctly? 37's and 1.25 spacers isn't that uncommon on Toy axles. Do you beat on it real good?

Welcome to Mud!!!! :flipoff2: Glad to have you!

I do beat on it pretty hard and I have never checked the pre-load. I just shim it to where it is nice and snug. I hear you can use a fish scale to check the pre-load and it should at about 12 pounds is that correct?

-and I have run both the china garbage and the higher quality ones. not sure if theres really a diffrence or not but have the better ones in there now.

make sure you change the race as well...
