My roommate got 2 new trunion bearings from carquest for his drivers side knuckle. The bearings are about 2.5mm taller than the bearings he got in the knuckle rebuild kit from allpro. Will this work or is he dealer bound or waiting for the allpro ones to come in?

Sweet you proved me right. I will let my roommate know and tell him to head for the dealer. Thanks for the help.

After blowing out many, many trunion bearings (even koyo's), I only run Toyota bearings in the upper location (lowers never wear out). They have taller rollers than the koyo bearings, and end up lasting longer with big tires and highsteer.

Also watch out on some of these bearings from the parts house. Every once in awhile the bearings don't match the race it came with. It may be why your bearing is sitting too tall.

Really? I thought Toyota knuckle bearings were Koyo bearings. Do you remember the mfr marking on the Toyota dealer supplied knuckle bearings?

It is possible there has been a change in design in the last 4 years too. Either way, the new 'Toyota' bearings I have purchased have taller rollers than the earlier koyo ones I have used, along with current koyo ones I have seen on the shelf.

I never checked the manufacturer markings on the toyota bearing.

Goodtwin: Can you tell us the bearing mfr and numbers for the Carquest parts, the AllPro parts, and the Toyota dealer parts?

I have Koyo bearings marked TR0305A in boxes marked TR0305AF4 that I got in one knuckle rebuild kit, and bearings marked with part number 30303D and no mfr marking (maybe they are Timkin?) that I got in another knuckle rebuild kit. I have not used either kit.

GRM: Thanks for the info, this is very interesting.

Andy
