LOL :crybaby:

A piece of the spring was broken off, my guess is that upon compression of #6 it got blown up into the intake and slid all the way to #1. If the clamp was all together when it went in, who knows how the bolt ended up in #5 and the rest of it in #6, but beyond it just being weird for it to be in there anyway I guess it would be weirder for it to be in there in two pieces...

So we're thinking do a valve job on it, replace the little oil plug or whatever that sometimes blows out and drains all your oil, decarbonize it...then put it back on and drive it!

I ran a nut through my engine. Smashed up the spark plug and spit the chunks out the back. I replaced the spark plug and never looked back.

To do it correctly, I would go ahead and service the head. I have a handfull of non OE head gaskets if you want them. Free...but I would run OE if it were my engine. If the valves are the same between an F and 2F, I have a box full of them you can sort through. I also have a pile of hose clamps if you want to sprinkle a few in for good measure.

Here we go:

mmmm....spring hose clamp, yummy.

So, are the piston faces okay to just roll with it? Cylinder walls look fine, no nicks, nice and polished. Do a valve job and button it back up?

you say..."nice & polished".... ever heard of piston ring SKATE ?? de-glaze and ring it! your to close not to......

No, that a new one to me. Can you elaborate?

FWIW, I have seen cylinders that looked like new w/ 200K miles on them. Always due to gummed up rings, stuck in the grooves and not having any tension against the cylinder wall. Good for cylinder wear; bad for compression & oil consumption.

you got it!
