Truck Died - Likely Cause?

OK Robbie -

Compression was good in all cylinders - 155 - 160 cold engine, dry [no added oil] and a bit of a weak battery (the alarm drained it flat but I put it on the charger while I pulled the plugs).

The LHH/PHH literally looks like it exploded! I will post a few pics tomorrow. There was also debris/crud on the small part of the block that sticks out below the head directly in front of the nipple - it looks like the burnt residue of hose and the antifreeze that was likely burnt as the fluid kept hitting it.

I have posted a separate question on how to get the bolt on the tube loose.

I will get it all back together and hope for the best for my friend. Meanwhile - as soon as I get his out of my garage I will do mine!

The picture of the blown hose tells me that the engine lost coolant, the remaining coolant flashed into steam, and then the hose blew.
