Whaaaaatt??

Those seats don't have any structure to them, they bolt rigidly to the floor, at the front hinges. How would you make them adjustable?

And how the heck could you fasten the upper seat backs in the cab? LOTS of fab work for a seat that would really suck, no side support whatsoever.

What about a notch for the shifter?

:eek::ban: My bad?
It was just an idea, it isn't like I ever sit back there and would know for myself. I'm the only one who drives, crazy wife's over (erm, a lovely) 39 and has never had her license, bike commutes.

Give a guy a break for at least thinking?

Here, better? https://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/384286-oyajis-fj60.html (One of the posts has the info.)

Sorry to bother you mini-truck guys....I'm in the process of cutting up an FJ55 to make a service rig...the factory seat back is very thick and I want to keep the bulkhead as tight to the b pillar as possible in order to-BLAHBLAHBLAHlong story short...Can anyone post a pic or 2 of the factory bench seat and provide overall width across the back at the base and the shoulder and the rough thickness at the shoulder and headrest? TIA

Looks like you got some dimensions answered but if you need more I can measure my 92 pu bench seat.

If you look around the pu forums you may find some good info on updating bench seats. I know the one in my truck is just good enough right now to leave it be but if I do an upgrade I will go for bucket seats or a nicer split bench. I think the Tacoma 1995-2001? are pretty much the same size as the hilux gen 2 and 3 pickups. Other options may be bucket seats from s-10's, or Ford rangers, dodge Dakota, etc.

I saw a good write up the other day about someone putting a split bench from a 2003 ford ranger into a 1990's pickup and it looked good. If I can find the link I will post it here. If I have the time and can find a nice Tacoma bench or ranger bench seat this summer I will do a swap too.

I am not sure if you FJ55 is wider or not
